For all you blog stalkers out there, I'm going to change my blog from personal to semi professional! I have this insane notion that I can take pictures and that people will want me to take pictures for them. I'm in no means a professional...and probably will never reach that level. I just want to have fun and see where this new hobby will take me.

This blog is now dedicated to the photos I have taken and will take in the future.

I don't really have anything exciting to post....just random things, nothing to inspiring or even that exciting.
It's fall and I'm loving the cooler weather and just the thought of getting out my sweaters and dressing {warm} is so appealing.

The kids are doing good in school....Cody is finishing up drivers ed and driving with the instructor this week. He should be finished before his birthday, which I can't believe is fast approaching. I'm sure we'll be running to the DMV early Monday morning following his b-day!

Jackson & Caden have joined the school choir. Twice a week they have to be at school earlier than normal to practice. They are learning songs for the Christmas program and are already singing them to me. I'm so not ready for {that} season to be upon us.

Speaking of Christmas...have you been to Target lately? I was there today and could not believe that they had Christmas decorations right next to the Halloween decorations......UNBELIEVABLE! Halloween isn't even here yet...and Christmas is being shoved in our face!

Jack and Caden are also taking piano lessons and are learning to read music. It's so fun to see them learn and hear them play. Wish I had made Cody take lessons....piano lessons at least. He tinkers with the guitar and plays a little here and there but nothing serious.

Greg is busy with the car lot.....trying to buy and sell which has been difficult during this economy situation we are in....but we've been blessed and have been able to pay the bills and eat. I can't complain and shouldn't complain that he's not around; he's doing the best he can.

Me? I'm doing ok, just trying to get kids where they need to be....working, cooking, cleaning and more day in and day out. Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining....I love where I am in life right now and I'm thankful for all that I do have....all that I enjoy.....and the time I have to spend with the boys.....{including the biggest boy}

First date....HOMECOMING

Cody at the last minute asked a girl to homecoming. Am I shocked, yes & no. Yes, that he almost did it without telling me and NO because I've been asking him if he was going and proding to find out who he would ask. So long story short..he's going and this week has been crazy for me trying to get everything planned and ready for him to go.

Greg and I offered to cook dinner for the group (3 couples) so I've been hastily preparing table decor, getting the "right" dishes (I didn't really have anything fancy, so had to get something LOL) and making sure Cody got a corsage ordered. He was going to go the tux route but has changed his mind and will be going shopping with the other couples to pick out something to wear. Whew. Tuxes are expensive.

I think I'm more excited for him to go...so I want to make this "first date" extra special. Here's a preview of what I came up with for the table decor! I kept asking what Cody thought he would like, he gave me some ideas and this is when I ended up with. He approves!

Cody and Jackson competed in the Virgin River Skimboarding Competition this past weekend.
They did so AWESOME. I'm so proud of them!
It was a very HOT and long day, but the outcome was GREAT!

Jackson didn't place, but impressed the judges and his baseball coaches with his endless tricks, including this handstand.Cody placed 3rd in his division.......his ability to stay on his board after each trick and the only one to stay standing on the rainbow rail earned him some cool prizes......which he is proudly models....

Six days on the road and I'm BEAT! I've been on vacation (if you can call it that) for the past 6 days and thoroughly enjoyed my time away from 110 degree heat and work.

We spent two days in Park City at a baseball tournament for Jackson. Regardless of the rain the first day, day two was GLORIOUS! Barely 75 degrees and glorious SUNSHINE!

I'm so proud of Jackson, he ended the weekend with 2 doubles and a triple, some awesome pitching and some seriously awesome outfield catches!

After glorious PARK CITY we flew to Billings, Montana and then drove another 221 miles to visit Elder and Sister Olson (aka my parents) in Glendive Montana.

Just a few tidbits about Glendive.....it's a town in the middle of NOWHERE with about 4000 residents. Main street consists of about three blocks, one Subway and a Dairy Queen AND a few stores, bars and misc.

While it was good to see the folks and my sisters from afar, it was SO GOOD to come home!

During our Ward Council (planning) meeting this morning we were asked to give the spiritual thought. As I was contemplating what to say, I was thumbing through the recent Ensign that came (July 09) and I was impressed to read the section of the First Presidency article titled "Our Service, Save Souls".

I had an experience this week that really made me wonder if we are working hard enough to save the lost or struggling souls. The Lord has emphasized that the worth of souls is GREAT and that each of us are his children and are entitled to our Father's blessings.

I felt very impressed to share my experience with those gathered in the meeting today and remind them that we need to do everything we can to save those souls and not criticize or give up on those who don't participate or complete a project, don't attend activities, don't do their home teaching or visiting teaching or come to church for whatever reason.

Those called to lead our ward, our youth, our children do you really know who they are? Do you know their struggles? Do you understand their problems, likes, dislikes?

I encourage you to NEVER give up on anyone! Reach out with a helping hand, love them, serve them and encourage them "and bring, save it be one soul unto me..." D&C 18:15-16

I'm not much of a story teller or one to share personal experiences, but I need to share this.

One Sunday afternoon we decided to get out of the heat and enjoy some cooler weather. We loaded up 6 bikes (one of them was the neighbor boys) on a small trailer we have and headed up toward Cedar mountain. We decided to explore and took the winding, steep road to Kolob. After driving for what seemed like hours we finally made it to Kolob reservoir. We unloaded the bikes, rode around the lake for a while, then decided to head for home. As we were loading the bike we noticed that the ball on the hitch was loose. Without any tools, we hand tightened the ball and went on our merry way. As we were descending down the Zion side of Kolob we could smell the brakes on the car burning (the road is steep) and Cody said we should stop and check them. Shortly after Cody's comment, I was watching the trailer in my mirror and said "you need to stop and check the trailer" which I repeated several times. BUT Greg did not stop the car and the trailer came loose from the MDX and tumbled down a 50 foot embankment.

Now this is where Greg's version of the story and my version of the story differ......My version is that I said out loud....."you need to stop and check the trailer". Greg's version is I didn't say that......

Whatever was said or not said, silently or out loud.....we need to listen! Whether it is to each other or the promptings from the Spirit.

We are very lucky that the car was not pulled down the hillside by the trailer and that our bikes only sustained minimal damage.

We learned our lesson......be prepared and LISTEN!

What does one do when they finally get a weekend off?
We headed for the BIG APPLE!

We had one day to spend so decided to fly out of Vegas on Sat night, the red eye. Landed in NYC at 7am and hit as many sites as we could....

We walked the Brooklyn Bridge, shopped China town, visited Ground Zero and Time Square, and stopped quickly at Central Park.

We had a blast, even when we had to spend the night unexpectedly!

As with most, there are moments when we don’t feel our best and brightest. In those times we can search within to see what we might do to let our inner light shine to its fullest potential. Because we are physical, mental and spiritual beings, our spiritual light can be blocked. Determining where walls have been built within is a process. If we can acknowledge that we are the only ones with the power to dim our own lights, we can also honor that we have the power to clear away the layers to feel the warmth of our own light shining again. When you consider our bodies provide a home for our mind and spirit, it is also valuable to remember our bodies require proper maintenance. Taking care of ourselves is like polishing an heirloom piece of silver. By doing so, we remove the accumulation of physical debris that keeps us from our authentic illumination. Shifting our thoughts can positively affect our mental state…even as simply moving from complaints to gratitude. A change of mental perception can allow us to see the world in new ways too. Being free of our restrictions and letting go of that which holds us back allow us to connect with our inner power. As we continue to work on letting our light so shone, we will also illuminate the world around us !!Live every day...LOVE every moment.

How to clear the blues....

Take a 15 minute walk every day. And while you walk SMILE. It's the ultimate anti-depressant.

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to God about what's going on in your life. Buy a lock if you have to.

When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, "MY PURPOSE IS TO __________TODAY. I AM THANKFUL FOR______________."

Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

Drink green tea and plenty of water; eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli and walnuts.

Try to make at least three people smile each day.

Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

Greg and I are blessed to have such great kids. They are our pride and joy and we look forward to what 2009 may bring.

Winter Wonderland

This past week has been some really crazy weather. Monday is snowed most of the day but didn't stick, Tuesday was cold and dreary, but no show. Today.....oh boy....about 2pm it started to snow and it's now 8:30pm and it's still snowing.....

Tonight was Cody's Christmas band concert and after the concert we went to dinner and then drove past the big Christmas Tree over in Bloomington! We jumped out of the car and started to build a snowman....so if you drive by the tree....the snowman there was created by Jana, Jack, Caden and our neighbor Parker. Cody not dressed for incliment weather, kept the car warm. :)

We are home now and the boys can't stand it....they are outside having a snowball fight, trying to sled down the drive way and build a snowman.

I love snow around Christmas and glad that we don't get alot very often, I love the feeling of being all snuggled inside with the fire blazing, wrapped up in a blanket and reading a really good book......

Bloomington Hills 6th Ward Christmas Party

Just a quick report on the FIRST Ward Christmas party that Greg and I were in charge of. It was completely and utterly overwhelming, but we managed to pull it off and we feel it was a HUGE success.

This was not the typical LDS Ward Christmas party where the dinner choice is ham and funeral potatoes. Now don't get me wrong, I love both of those food items, BUT there comes a time when they just don't cut it for a CHRISTMAS party. So we (and the committee) decided to deviate from tradition and plan a party that Bloomington Hills 6th Ward will REMEMBER for years to come.

Many people don't know that Greg worked for Andelins Gable House for over 15 years. During his tenure there he was one of the main Chefs. He loved cooking for Mike and really wanted to cook for our Ward party.

So we planned a menu of

Roasted Pork with apple, almond & brown sugar glaze

Gable House chicken with holandaise sauce and mushrooms

Baked potato with cheese filling

Creamed corn

Gable House Salad with grated eggs, shrimp, cherry tomatoes and famous dressing

Brownie topped with peppermint ice cream, hot fudge & candy canes

It was a night of firsts for many and will be the last dinner I will cook for over 300 people!

I had a GREAT time cooking and serving the Ward, so a big THANKS to all those who came, enjoyed the food, decorated tables, served food, keep the entertainment going, kept me sane and supported our efforts.

Have you ever done something that made you wonder

"What was I thinking?

As you many of you know we frequently visit Los Angeles over a weekend to transport cars home for Greg's car lot. Last weekend was one such trip, only this time with a twist.

If you were following the news you knew that Southern California was engulfed in fires. Thinking nothing of this we left home, boarded a plane and were soon peering out the windows of the aircraft at the fires below us and an amazing sunset. After landing and walking from the airplane to the terminal and seeing the workers on the ramp wearing masks we wondered what we were doing? As we checked into our hotel, we were handed masks and instructed to wear them whenever we were to be outside for long periods of time. (here again...what were we thinking?)

The following morning at breakfast, we found ourselves surrounded by but people who had been evacuated from thier homes, not tourists as would normally be with Disneyland not 10 minutes away. The buzz at breakfast was whose house was still standing, whose house was gone and when can we go home. People were in tears, on thier cell phones, glued to the TV and wondering what they were going to do next.

As I sat there during breakfast, I wondered again....what were we thinking?

Needless to say we were able to get out of the valley and return home safely. We did, however; learn a BIG lesson.....be prepared! What could or would you be able to take with you at a moments notice? Are you prepared for any emergency?

Most of these people had a moments notice to leave thier homes and some with only the clothes on thier backs. As I relayed this story to my sister, our discussion turned to 72 hour kits and to how prepared we are or are not. My goal this month is to GET PREPARED! I challenge each of you that read this, to put together your 72 hour kits so that you're prepared in case of an emergency!

I hope you don't mind, but I have to brag about a recent accomplishment of mine. I recently finsihed an Aviation Law class, which was very interesting and I learned SO much. At the end of the class the instructor chose to give us an exam (we had to earn a grade somehow since we had NO homework) SO he chose to give us an EIGHT essay question exam to be completed in 48 hours with the minimum word count for each question 450 words. Now I know that some of you might think "AHHHH piece of cake" WRONG! For me this was an a HUGE challenge. So I gave it my all, busted every ounce of knowledge I had gained, surfed the internet for hours in search of answers and finished the exam in the alloted time and hoped for a C grade.
So the results of all my stress and anxiety paid off.....I received an A-

Soccer is over! Last Saturday was the last game for the boys. All of them had a great time. Cody's team was UNDEFEATED for the second year in a row. He played on a really great team that had a lot of fun. Cody is still playing competitive and is learning that there is a new level to the game. He has learned that he's not the STAR of the team and has to work hard to earn the respect of his teammates. It's been a diffucult adjustment for him, but he's enjoying it.

Jackson's team did really good as well. I believe they only lost 2 games and Jackson was the top scorer on the team. He's an awesome forward striker and not to shabby at stopping the ball when he plays keeper.

Caden's team, while they didn't win a game, had a BLAST learning how to play the game. Caden is very aggresive and is not about to let anyone past him. He's a fantastic forward and a really awesome keeper. I wonder where he gets all his talent.

Now we are going to sit back and watch ReAL
Salt Lake and their quest for the WORLD CUP!

Whew, I'm glad it's over.

While the kids really enjoy Halloween,I'm not a big fan of it. I stink at putting together costumes (extrememly evident this year) and I'm not a fan of answering the door. I do like to decorate for fall/Halloween and carve pumpkins. What's wrong with me? Even though I'm not all into it, the boys did have fun.

This is the first year that Cody hasn't gone t & t'ing, a sure sign that he's getting older. All he wanted to do was hang with friends. I'm thankful that he makes wise choices in friends and they were all safe and sound and not out tricking.....like he told me he was going to do.

Caden is supposed to be a "hobo" but refused to wear the straw hat and carry his stick. Jackson is a "dead" baseball player. They thought up these costumes on thier own, I just helped paint thier faces.

With the kids out of school for two days I had big dreams of going somewhere fun. My big dreams were put on hold and adjustments had to be made.

I spent Fall Break just enjoying being at home. For me, being at home, is a rare occasion and can cause me to become very anxious and bored. I somehow managed to stay busy, cleaning, cleaning and cleaning. My house is spotless for the first time in.....oh 20 years (just kidding). It's clean, but somehow hasn't stayed that way.

Friday after more cleaning it was time to GET OUT! The boys and I decided to get out and do some mountain biking. After some research online we decided to head up to Goosebery Mesa (above Hurricane) and see what it was like. We started out late in the day and didn't get much riding in, but found that it's a place we'll be going back to. Here are some shots of our short ride (oh and some wildlife)

We decided that after so much fun riding that we would try another trail closer to home. On Saturday we rode the Paradise Canyon bike train, just above St. George. It was a more difficult ride and not quite as fun (at least in Jack and Cadens eyes). This is Caden on the Paradise Canyon trail. It was colorful with the yellow flowers and red rocks.

We have a good time, getting out and enjoying our beautiful surroundings. I'm glad we stayed close to home.

The addage of "time flying when your having fun" has proven to be the case this week with my failed attempt to update my blog.

I've been out of town for three days working and made it home in time to get very little sleep, get up and run off to soccer games the next day.

So here I am trying to play catch up......with laundry, my homework, the kids homework, work, housecleaning, birthday parties, phone calls and catch up with friends.

It's now Tuesday and the laundry is caught up, the house is semi clean, the kids homework is caught up and I can sit down for two seconds to blog. Now that I have time to blog, I don't have much to say.

I did listen to some of Conference and was excited to hear that 5 more Temples are going to be built, one of which will be in Rome. I love Italy so sometime in the future a trip to the Temple will be a must.

While in Tucson, I had the chance to talk to some co-workers about the LDS Church and missionaries. My parents being on a mission was a great conversation starter and got my friends asking questions about missionaries and why, where and how they serve.

Soccer is consuming our days, nights, weekends and rather than report on each kid thier soccer highs and lows....enjoy the pictures..... :)

St. George Rodeo Round Up Parade

I realized today that I have not posted for what seems like an eternity. I feel like every post is about how busy we are, but honestly we are BUSY.
I don't think I've been home before 8pm in the last 7 days, nor have I cooked a meal at home. The resturaunts must love the Gentrys :)

It's soccer season and every Saturday is spent running from one game to another, and this past Saturday in the midst of soccer was a wedding and a parade.

Cody and the 9th grade band marched for the first time in a parade. Carrying the bass drum was hard work and it was very hot. He's so against me taking pictures of him and he won't show his face, but I was able to get a few.

Oh boy....It's coming and are we ready? I'm not sure, I think I am, but is Greg? Greg and I are the activities chairmen for our ward and our first activity is coming. I'm a little freaked out, excited and wondering how I'm (we, I think Greg is in on this too) going to pull it off. Greg always wants to have extravagant parties and this pot luck in the park is not his idea of fun :) I think the Christmas part will be FUN! (ward members that are reading this, we're planning a great one)

We set a date about a month ago for this party and haven't even met with our committee, but I had an idea and ran with it. It will be simple (I hope). It's a basic potluck in the park and a time to relax and YAK with neighbors and friends all while having a SNACK, get it? I hope we are able to pull it off.

PS: update on the Yak-n-Snack: It was great fun. Lot's of people came (I worried that no one would come)there was plenty of food (I worried about this too) and the shave ice was a hit.

The season has begun.

This past Saturday we had 4 soccer games. We started off with Caden at 9:30am, then moved on to Jackson at 11:30 and Cody at 12:30.
All three games were alot of fun and the boys thoroughly enjoyed playing. Later Saturday night Cody played in his first competitive game. This was something new for him. He's usually the star of the team. But on this competitive team, he's playing with boys as good or better than him. Although he's not the star of the team, I think he played very good. I may be biased because I'm his Mom, but from the perspective of a coach, he proved that he can keep up and has the potential to really good.

Recognizing the blessings in my life...

During the past week or so I've been discussing with a very good friend of mine the subject of blessings.

Our religion teaches us that if we live righteously, keep the commandments, pay our tithing and do everything in our power to be great and honorable people we will be blessed. If we do this, then why do bad things happen? Why when families prepare to send out missionaires do loved ones lose thier jobs? Why do loved ones suffer from medical problems? Why do we have to live from paycheck to paycheck?

I don't have the answer, but have come to realize that the adversary is hard at work. He wants us to be miserable, unhappy, lose faith and suffer. However, the Lord is hard at work as well. We need to put our trust in our Heavenly Father and allow those blessings to freely flow. In our troubled times we may not recognize the blessing behind losing a job or becoming ill, but what we must do is be grateful for the things we do have.

What am I grateful for?
Greg! He's always there for me, no matter what.
Friends who listen and dont' judge.
Kids who love unconditionally.
Family who support and comfort, no matter what!
My Savior, who blesses me with his love

Labor Day...No way

Ok, so what's the real reason we have Labor Day? Is it just a day of from the hustle and bussel of everyday life? I guess so, because that's what we did. We left the hustle and bustle of everyday life and headed for the hills.

We spent a VERY relaxing weekend in the mountains, enjoying each others company, laughing, 4 wheeling and more. We had awesome weather, a little chilly but better than 100 plus heat and a couple of really sweet thunder storms. I love the mountain air after several hours of hard rain!

As we headed for home on Monday all of us said "I miss the cabin" even though just a couple of hours before we couldn't wait to get home. :)

When I titled this blog I was not kidding about how crazy our lives are.
School has been in session for two weeks now and we've have homework, back to school nights and already parent teacher conferences and changes to schedules.

Soccer has started with 3 kids and practices every night. I don't think I've been home before 8pm any night this week.

I am SO glad that it's a three day weekend. I need the time to relax before soccer games start next Saturday. AAAAHHHHHHH

Greg and I have been planning our Ward Activities. We've got some great ideas in the works...ward members watch for announcements. If anyone has great ideas about what we can do, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm always up for new ideas and activities that our ward hasn't done yet.

Where will our travels take us this weekend....I have no idea, but check back next week to find out. :)

School is in.....

Well the first week of school is finished. We made it through class changes, meeting teachers, shopping for supplies and homework.

Both Jackson and Caden have homework every night. Mom's with 2nd and 3rd graders get ready for it......

This last weekend we flew to Los Angeles to pick up two cars. It was nice to get away, but driving 425miles and not feeling to swell was not what I would call fun. Saturday morning I woke up and my throat was on fire.....as the day wore on I felt better. By Sunday I felt fine, just don't have much of a voice. I've got my annual laryngitis bug.

Good news....Cody tried out for a competitive soccer league and made the team. Go Panthers...

School is less than 24 hours away and I am so ready. My kids are climbing the wall and ready for a change.

We are all ready for some different activities and Cody even said today that he was ready to see his friends again.

I don't have too much exciting news to report...here are a few things...
*my parents left the MTC on August 6. On Friday they packed up the car and headed for Billings Montana. I haven't heard that they made it, but no news is good news, right?
*Greg and I have a new church calling. We were both released and called as the Ward Activities Chairmen. I know, what fun. I am actually excited and ready to do something different. If anyone has any ideas on a fun Christmas party, I'm all ears. I have no idea what has been planned, but if something is in the works, we'll just have to add to it and make it great.
*My friend Autumn had her baby this past week. After being dialated to a 3 for about 2 weeks, her baby daughter was born. View her blog for the cutest baby pictures. http://eandaboucher.blogspot.com

On Monday, July 28 my parents entered the MTC for thier long awaited mission.
Today much to my surprise I received and email from my mother. I am struggling with the MTC rule of no outside contact other than snail mail. She must have known that I needed to know if she was ok. She is and now so am I.

In a last ditch effort to see them before they headed for Montana we drive up to see them and spend time with family.

This mama is counting down the days until all three boys head back to school.
They (I should say, their mother) is very ready for them to get back into a routine and to learn something new.

Cody will be in 9th grade, Jackson in 3rd grade and Caden in 2nd grade.

Funny story: I took Caden to the Dr. today (he's ok, BTW) and I asked if he was up to date on his immunizations for 1st grade. I was quickly corrected by him and he told me very sternly that he was going to be in the SECOND grade. I promptly apologized to him. I wish you could have been there to hear his voice and see his face. :)

What in the heck is skimming?

It's short for skim boarding, which my children have taken a hunkering for.

For some time now the boys have been at the river gliding on the very shallow water on a very thin board called a skim board.

St. George has a skim boarding competition every summer and Cody and Jackson competed this summer for the first time.

They both did really great and learned alot.

This week has been so full of events that I just have to write them all down.

It never fails that when we leave town, someone has to get hurt. First Jackson and now Cody.

While visiting my parents in thier new home, my boys were swimming in the clubhouse pool and Cody tried to dive over Jackson. He hit the bottom of the pool with the top of his head. The impact tore open his scalp and skinned about a 1 inch square of hair from his head.

It was quite a scare, but he was able to walk back to the house. Greg and I immediately took him to Instacare to rule out a concussion and spinal injury. I'm thankful that he is fine, although it took 8 staples to close the gash in his head.

Hopefully there will not be another injury this summer......:)

My parents after a long two year wait have finally received thier mission call! They will enter the Mission Home on July 28 and then travel to the Billings Montana Mission.

It's been a very long two years for them. Each of them have struggled with health problems but have overcome those challenges and are ready to go!

We are so excited for them to serve the Lord by teaching the gospel to the people in Glendive Montana.

Summer Vacations.....

Well I survived our first trip of the summer. My side of the family rented a condo at Powder Mountain ski resort for a week. So Wednesday I loaded the car with the kids, one of Cody's friends and the bikes and drove to Ogden. It was a long drive, but imagine the quality time I spent with my kids. We laughed, sang to the newest CD we bought and did a little arguing. But all in all we had a great time.

The weather on top of the world (well not quite the top of the world, but at 8700 feet it sure felt like it) was wonderful! We did alot of biking and one very difficult geo cache hike. If you haven't experienced the geo cache thrill, it's a must. The cache we hiked to was very high and hard, but I figured if my 4 year old nephew could hike it in croc's, then I certainly could make it.

I certainly enjoyed the beautiful things that Heavenly Father created for us; ie, bugs, dried up branches scratching my legs, the most amazing flowers and even the snow.

I then decided that my kids needed some exposure to a different religion so I took them to a Catholic Monestary located in Huntsville, UT. Ok, just imagine 4 boys entering the Church to listen to Monks chant in Latin. Oh how they giggled and laughed until I threatened to leave. They settled down and I'm proud to say they listened to 20 minutes of chanting, reading and singing by 10 Monks. After we left both Cody and his friend (Taylor Polatis) commented on how cool it was to have that experience.

Good, Better, BEST

A couple of weeks ago a young person (sorry can't remember if it was a boy or girl) from my ward gave a youth talk in Sacrament meeting. The topic of the talk was centered around the talk by one of the General Athorities on being Good, Better, or BEST. I was so impressed by this talk that I had a wall hanging made using those three words. I have hung these three words in a spot that constantly reminds me that I can strive to do my BEST in all things.

Does that mean I am perfect? No, I am far from it. However, I am reminded on a daily basis that I can certainly try. I am touched by my friends and their strength as they struggle and endure through lifes ups and downs. Thank you for sharing your "BEST" with me. :)

Father's Day

I know this is late, but HAPPY FATHERS day to Dad's everywhere.

Celebrations in our family are low key events so we didn't really do a lot in the way of gifts. I guess the most important gift that I gave Greg this year was time with the boys. He got to spend the day with them while I went to Vegas to spend some time with two of my sisters.

The girls went to La Rev @ the Wynn. We had a blast, the show was awesome and amazing. A must see if you get the chance.

Week one, wasn't to bad. The weather was nice so the boys did a lot of biking. They found some really fun jumps, I'll post a video (when I get out of class)

Week Two: Cody is at basketball camp, I'm working 1/2 days until Cody gets home. We went to Pine Valley for dinner and Jack & Caden spent the night with our friends. They had a blast and are going back tomorrow night (Wed)

School is out. The kids are excited, but is their mother?
I'm not ready for them to be home all day long, I wonder what catastrophe will happen while I'm gone. Hopefully with all the things I have planned for them, they will stay out of trouble.

made the 4th quarter HIGH HONOR ROLL. He's so proud of that accomplishment (so are his parents). We hope he can keep those kind of grades going througout high school.
Played Boarder League Basketball. He had fun and learned how hard you have to work to get something you want.
Two band concerts and a couple of competitions later, Desert Hills Middle School took high honors awards for thier band.

I can't believe it's been 20 years. What a ride it has been.
We've had fun, traveled, laughed, cried and 3 beautiful boys.

Broken Bones....

While we were in Miami, Jackson jumped off a water slide and broke his left collar bone. OUCH

While he's doing really good, it was quite a scare for his parents (Mom actually, Dad was pretty calm).

Thanks go out to friends who were called to give him a blessing and to family who took him immediately to Instacare he is doing really good. There isn't alot that can be done for a broken collar bone except for putting his arm in a sling until it heals.

He's a real trooper though and doesn't complain about pain.

Miami

Greg and I went to Miami this past weekend. We were invited to a fishing tournament by a company that I work closely with. This is our third year going and I think by far, it was the most fun we had. Unfortunately the water was extremely rough (7 foot swells) and Greg was seasick but we still had fun.

We had the biggest fish, until another boat came in with a bigger fish. So we brought home only the 2nd and 3rd place trophies! Pretty good for a bunch of amatuer fishermen/women. :)

I visited Natalie's blog tonight and Sherie had posted about her gratitude towards a group of Natlalie's friend who had comforted the family after Natalie's passing. I am continually uplifted by Sherie and her strength and graditude for all that she has been given.

During my class last night (Human Relations) the instructor suggested that we keep a graditude journal. She suggested that we take 60 seconds and write down our gradtitude for something an employee did. I can do this at work, but what am I really thankful for? How can I express my gratitude to my family?

Ok, it's been a while since I blogged, but we've been soooo busy.

All three boys are involved in sports. We finally finished basketball with Cody. Soccer is still going for Jack and Caden and now baseball has started! Every night there is something going on.

Spring Fever

I am so excited that SPRING is here. I love this time of year and how the world starts to green up! I love the blooming trees and flowers. It's so refreshing.

Now if I could my spring cleaning done, it would be a miracle, just like those blooming trees and flowers.

A friend of mine found this PERIODIC CLEANING CHART from Real Simple.

Two Down

Well, I've made it through two college classes and I can survive.
It's been a real eye opener going back to school. I've learned alot about myself over the past eight weeks. I've learned that yes I can write papers, read articles, make presentations and still be a Mom. It's been tough, but I can honestly say I feel different.

Just being in these classes has made me realize how dormant my mind was. Don't get me wrong, I use my brain at work, but that's work and somedays all I do there is solve every one's problem. During these classes I've felt like I've grown and expanded my knowledge base and used portions of my brain that I haven't used in a long long time. And it's a great feeling.

American Cancer Society-- Relay For Life

It's time once again to start getting ready for the Relay For Life. Once again I will be part of a SkyWest Relay For Life Team. Last year was a great year for our team, this year will be even better.

The Relay is a 24 hour event where teams walk or run without a break for 24 hours. The purpose of the Relay is to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

I began participating in the Relay many years ago after a close friend and co-worker was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She is a survivor and an example to me on how to BEAT the dreaded disease and live life to the fullest.

My participation in the Relay means alot more to me now than ever before. In 2005 my Mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She is approaching her two year cancer free anniversary and I'm so thankful that she is well and still able to spend time with my family. She's my best friend, confidant and the greatest Grandma in the world.

I'm thankful for the opportunity to participate in the Relay for Life and will continue to participate in the years to come.

Cabin Bound trip photos

Cabin Bound

We headed for the cabin this past weekend for the first time during the winter season. In years past we have never been able to drive past the main road in a car. Access was only via snowmobile.

We left Saturday night and reached the cabin after dark. It was a good thing we had hired someone to plow us a place to park. With over 6 feet of snow it would have taken us all night to clear a spot for the car. What a surprise and shock to see that we could not even see the front door. It was completly covered with snow right up to the eves. It took the three of us about an hour and a half to dig a pathway to the door.

We finally made it to the door and once inside we realized how cold it was. We fired up the wood stove and some heaters it warmed up, but only a little bit. We hurried and got ready for bed, piled on the blankets and dozed right off to sleep. During the night I had to take off a couple of blankets, I was too hot.

Sunday morning after a hearty breakfast we headed outside to a glorious day! It was sunny and a nice 35-40 degrees. It was warm enough to melt the snow. The boys built a snow cave, Caden and I did some sledding and we just relaxed and enjoyed each others company.

All in all it was some very much needed family time and well worth the trip.
