Bloomington Hills 6th Ward Christmas Party

Just a quick report on the FIRST Ward Christmas party that Greg and I were in charge of. It was completely and utterly overwhelming, but we managed to pull it off and we feel it was a HUGE success.

This was not the typical LDS Ward Christmas party where the dinner choice is ham and funeral potatoes. Now don't get me wrong, I love both of those food items, BUT there comes a time when they just don't cut it for a CHRISTMAS party. So we (and the committee) decided to deviate from tradition and plan a party that Bloomington Hills 6th Ward will REMEMBER for years to come.

Many people don't know that Greg worked for Andelins Gable House for over 15 years. During his tenure there he was one of the main Chefs. He loved cooking for Mike and really wanted to cook for our Ward party.

So we planned a menu of

Roasted Pork with apple, almond & brown sugar glaze
Gable House chicken with holandaise sauce and mushrooms
Baked potato with cheese filling
Creamed corn
Gable House Salad with grated eggs, shrimp, cherry tomatoes and famous dressing
Brownie topped with peppermint ice cream, hot fudge & candy canes
It was a night of firsts for many and will be the last dinner I will cook for over 300 people!
I had a GREAT time cooking and serving the Ward, so a big THANKS to all those who came, enjoyed the food, decorated tables, served food, keep the entertainment going, kept me sane and supported our efforts.
Merry Christmas!

Jana,

I think you need to post some of those secret Gable House recipes on My Family so I can make them. They sound so good. You are crazy to cook for 300 people. I bet you are glad that is over.

Um, excuse me...how come Greg has never cooked for us? I never knew he had such talent. That's awesome! And did you know that I'm related to Mike? My mom's maiden name is Andelin. He wouldn't know me if I ran into him, and I've met his wife, Doris too. Anyways, long story, but way to go on a job well done it sounds like.
